As part of
Jeff Scherer's audition to become a member of the storied think tank that
is TopFive, he came up with the Chinese Movie Titles List, thus
inadvertently convincing the New York Times and Peter Jennings that the
Chinese title for Babe was translated as "The Happy Dumpling-to-Be Who
Talked and Solved Agricultural Problems." He went on to author such other
hoaxes as The Neiman-Marcus Cookie Recipe, Waking Up in a Bathtub Full
of Ice Sans Kidneys and The Inherent Profitability of the Internet.
In addition to his day job(s) designing for magazines, films and the Web,
Jeff fills the rest of his days writing screenplays and stage plays,
doing stand-up routines, playing guitar, thinking up get-rich-the-long-and-hard-way schemes... all
as part of an impressive attempt to avoid getting the exercise he so
desperately needs. He currently lives in Manhattan and converses mainly in Esperanto.
Inducted in 2002
